The U.S. emmigration visa category called “EB-5” is available for those who invest a large sum of money to the U.S. To be eligible for this category, the applicant must invest $1 million in a new U.S. commercial enterprise that employs at least 10 full-time U.S. workers. A lesser investment of
$500,000 may qualify the investor if the investment is in one of the targeted employment areas. These include rural areas with a population of
less than 20,000 or locations that have experienced an unemployment rate of 150 percent of the national average.
The U.S. Congress created the EB-5 Program in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign
investors. To be eligible for this program, the EB-5 investor must meet two requirements:
